DBT - eight week program
Who is this program designed to help?
People who may have patterns of suicidal thinking and behaviours, or other dysfunctional behaviours that create chaotic lives and relationships.
It also treats individuals who have a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or related traits.
Individuals with longstanding behavioural and emotional difficulties may wish to trial the DBT skills before committing to the six or twelve month therapy program.
The group provides skills training in:
- Core mindfulness
- Emotional regulation
- Interpersonal effectiveness

Who is this program designed to help?

The six-month program teaches some of the skills of DBT to people who have problems with emotional regulation.
Less intense than the twelve-month program, it does not require phone coaching and one-on-one therapy (although this is recommended).
It will also encourage participants to use their skills to remain out of hospital so that they can build the confidence to manage their emotions in their home environment.
DBT - 12 month program
The Sydney Clinic’s DBT 12 Month program combines one-on-one therapy with weekly skills training where participants learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and regulation of extreme and distressing emotions (known as emotional regulation).Who is this program designed to help?

During this full year program, participants will learn all four modules of DBT – the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulations, and interpersonal effectiveness. It involves weekly monitoring of symptoms, generalisation of new skills and telephone coaching.
All therapists at The Sydney Clinic are trained through the intensive DBT process model.
Each week includes one day of skills training during business hours or in the evening and one session of individual therapy.
